“Clarity is momentum that has no resistance in it.” Abraham Hicks

My story

Firstly, thank you for visiting The Wild Within website. I’d like to share my journey with you and hope that soon, you and I will get to share in some life changing memories too.

My life hasn’t always been what it is today. For 20 years, I led a somewhat ‘institutionalised’ life. I served in the Army and the Police. My internal compass started to whizz every which way and I felt lost. Questions emerged unanswered like “Why do I feel trapped?” and “Why do I feel alone?”. Very little made sense to me. My thoughts were muggy and seemed to be stuck on an unhelpful loop.

The love that I felt in the presence of nature began to point that spinning compass of mine consistently towards connecting with our natural environment. Taking a big leap of faith, I closed that chapter in pursuit of clarity and happiness. I invested time in exploring my most authentic self and chasing my highest excitement. This involved the combination of mindful practices whilst enjoying the ocean, the woodlands or simply noticing the fresh air I breathed. It left me feeling more self-aware, centred and energised. These practices cultivated simplicity and a kind acceptance of the way things are, not the nagging wish things were different. With this new clarity and a developing self-love, I became able to face life’s challenges with a more open perspective. I learned the value of slowing moments and thoughts down to appreciate them. I knew what was essential to me. This calming effect rippled seamlessly into my loved ones’ lives.

Having coached ocean and land-based activities for all ages, I have been fortunate to witness what nature does for us all. The experience is a privilege to watch. We unwind, go beyond our perceived limits and feel a belonging. This sparked an idea: with a big dollop of guided mindful practices and elemental immersion, the exploration of a person’s unique wildness will help them walk their path with a loyalty to self and useful tools for life’s ups and downs.

A large part of The Wild Within is lightness with fun and play at the heart of it. I qualified as a Forest and Beach School Leader and Mindfulness Teacher to help develop little minds in the most balanced and holistic way. It is a pleasure to be a part of their learning and appreciation for daily wonders that nature brings.

Connection and Transition

To connect to your truest self is an act of self-kindness. In a hurried, busy world, that connection can be lost. An indoor lifestyle can detach us from the outdoors. I believe there is no line or boundary separating us from nature. We are as wild as a peaceful sunset, a turbulent tornado, a crystal clear rockpool or embers gently glowing on a fire. To reconnect to our inner rawness and our natural environment is a practice which can help regulate emotions, gain self awareness, enjoy more now-moments and promote a healthy lifestyle.

To experience transition may feel like being squeezed through the narrow part of a bottle and popped out of the end. What now lays ahead? You are free from the confinement of the bottle.
